The Railway Children Wows Audiences!
The Railway Children Amazes Audiences
The whole school production of "The Railway Children" performed on 28th and 29th April was a huge success. A cast and stage crew of year 7, 8, 9 and 10 St Bede's students engaged, entertained and amazed their audience.
Well done to our wonderful Head of Drama, Susan Vanderstay, and our amazingly talented students who worked so hard to produce a night to remember!
Summary:
The play is set in and around a country railway station at the turn of the twentieth century. The plight of the railway children Bobby, Phyllis and Peter is imaginatively brought to life for a modern audience. The children are grappling with their new environment having moved from a lavish home and lifestyle in London to the countryside where their financial situation is strained. They are unaware of the imprisonment of their father and feel his loss daily. The play has moments of high tension, adventure and humour. It is a wonderful celebration of the power of human kindness, resourcefulness and resilience.
