Explaining Reports

Schools will share and explain their assessment information in different ways. If receiving a report or snapshot for the first time, it's likely that some of the terms we use may be confusing.

With this in mind, we have produced short guidance pages, which accompany assessment summaries when they are sent home. Copies are attached, below:

During Year 7 and Year 8, we place an emphasis on the foundational, key knowledge and skills that students need to learn in order to acquire more complex information in later years. We focus on those knowledge and skills over and above restrictive attainment levels, which often serve to distract from the knowledge and skills themselves.

We therefore track student progress by comparing the work students can produce, against the expected skills and knowledge within broader thresholds.
