Personal Social Health Education is delivered at St Bede’s in a variety of ways and in a number of difference subjects. We follow the Cambridgeshire PSHE Citizenship Frameworks which have been developed by the PSHE Service working with Cambridgeshire schools. The framework covers four areas:
Me and My Relationships
• Working Together
• My Relationships
• Diversity and Difference
• Emotional Well-being (including SEAL)
• Managing Risk and Change
Healthy and Safer Lifestyles
• Drugs and Drug Education
• Keeping Safe (including Anti-Bullying)
• Healthy Lifestyles (including Physical Activity and Healthy Eating)
• Sex and Relationships Education
Citizenship
Making the Most of My Abilities
All of these topics, some of which are very personal and sensitive, are covered within the Christian Ethos of our school. The main vehicles for delivery are:
Within Lessons – many of these topics are covered in RE, Science, Drama, Technology and English lessons
Citizenship – all students are taught citizenship topics within Humanities at KS3. In Year 10 all students take a short course GCSE in citizenship
Conference Days – Year groups come off timetable to work on specific issues. These sessions are led by members of staff, the chaplaincy or by experts from outside the school
