YOUNG AMBASSADORS FOR RE
We are very proud of five Year 9 students who have recently applied to become Young Ambassadors for RE. If they are successful, they will champion the importance of RE at both local and national levels. As part of their application, they had to respond to the question, "Why is it important to learn about others beliefs and values?" The group worked together to produce a short movie which we are delighted to share on our website.

We should know at the end of March or the beginning of April 2013 if they have been chosen. Only 20 schools nationally will be selected by the RE Council of England and Wales. As a school, however, we are extremely proud of the work they have done already. Well done and good luck to Ellie Archdeacon, Ben Ashwood, Ashley Burr, Jasmine Habacon and Lydia Hamilton-Rimmer.

Academy Status
On 1st March 2012, St Bede's converted to Academy Status. Most secondary schools in Cambridgeshire have taken this step, and there are now three secondary schools in the Diocese of East Anglia that are academies.
From the point of view of students, business will continue as usual, and the immediate impact of conversion will be negligible. A number of detailed changes regarding administrative procedures, however, are being implemented by Mrs Kirk and her team of Support Staff.
St Bede's has always valued its independence and distinctiveness, so academy conversion is, in many ways, a confirmation of our exisiting outlook. The felxibility that academy status provides will be used prudently to make improvements where they are deemed necessary to strengthen our distinctive mission as a Christian School. The emphasis, as always, will be on continuity where possible, change where necessary, but in all things Cum Deo.
