Most monitoring of students with special educational needs takes place both through curricular and special educational needs assessments. Teachers and teaching assistants work within subject areas supporting students in lessons. A number of individuals may have extra support in literacy, numeracy, communication skills, motor skills or confidence building. Occasionally, students are withdrawn from class to work on individual programmes.
Liaison with parents is an essential and valuable part of the work of the Special Needs department. The school remains committed to increasing access to the curriculum for disabled students and our Accessibility Plan is reviewed on a regular basis.
