The key stage 4 programme at St Bede’s is based on providing students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to achieve their full potential at the end of their time with us in Year 11. All students engage in the core curriculum including GCSEs in English, English Literature, Core Science, Additional Science, Maths, and RE. Students also complete short course GCSEs in both ICT and Citizenship. Alongside the core curriculum students study GCSEs in four additional subject areas of their choice, allowing them to develop their individual talents and interests. The inclusion of GCSE and RE and Citizenship within our core GCSE programme ensures that the ethos of St Bede’s is firmly imbedded and promoted within the Key Stage 4 Curriculum.
Alongside the academic programme at Key Stage 4 students are encouraged to become involved in some of the many extra-curricular activities on offer to students in Key Stage 4 at St Bede’s, such as The Duke of Edinburgh Award, Young Enterprise, school music and drama productions and school and representative sports teams. Members of Year 11 selected by their peers also form the student leadership team and take an active role in the organisation of the school.
