The Key Stage 3 strategy is well embedded within the school and its implementation is evident across the curriculum including the Core subjects English, Mathematics, Science and Information Technology.
Each student follows a programme of study which aims to enable them to become successful learners who enjoy learning, make progress and achieve. Their programme is monitored and assessed carefully, involving parents in the process at three points each year.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum. In addition to the Core subjects all students study: Art, Citizenship, Drama, Food Technology, French, German, Geography, History, Physical Education, PSHE, Religious Education and Textiles.
The curriculum is organised on a 5 day cycle, with 5 teaching hours in each day together with an assembly or tutor time. Year 7 students are taught in mixed ability tutor groups for most subjects, though there is some setting in Mathematics and English. This gradually changes with increased ability setting in most subjects in Years 8 and 9.
We have many enrichment activities at Key Stage 3 these include a variety of day trips and residential visits. We also invite guest speakers and groups into school to work with our students.
In addition we also provide students with a wide range of extra-curricular activities ranging from sports clubs to music groups and school drama productions.
The key stage 3 curriculum produces confident individuals who are able to live, safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
